New to Pilates?
Pilates is an invigorating workout that balances your body from the inside out. A mind-body form of exercise, Pilates will not only gain core strength, but will improve your balance and coordination. Pilates reduces joint stress resulting in long, STRONG, but flexible muscles. Got chronic pain? Pilates can help combat various problem areas like low back pain, headaches as well as other body aches, etc. If you need to rebound from a pregnancy, injury, surgery or are a serious athlete looking for cross training, Pilates is here for you.


Mat Classes
Designed for various levels and is a great way to start Pilates. Our classes combine flow and precision. Floor exercises incorporate concentration, core stability, posture, and strength coupled with flexibility. Pilates exercises are performed standing, seated and lying down and comprises controlled movement with breathing.

Private Equipment Sessions
Using resistance generated through spring tension, you will further incorporate stability, strength and flexibility.

INDIVIDUAL
One-on-one session that is customized by instructor to meet your needs and goals. It is recommended to take individual sessions before you begin duets in order to familiarize yourself with equipment, exercises and transitions.

DUETS
Session is customized to meet the needs of both persons. We recommend that you take part with someone you know, but there are opportunities where we can set you up with another person.

Kate Kruuse
Heading the Pilates program at BodySmith is Kate Kruuse. As a serious dancer looking for a means of injury prevention, Kate discovered Pilates back in 1995. Kate received her certification in 2002 from the internationally acclaimed Pilates Center in Boulder CO. She went on to help establish Avanti Therapy clinic, specializing in spinal, closed head injuries and vestibular disorders. In 2004, she moved to San Diego and opened her studio, Intrinsic Movement Pilates. There she trained professional athletes, as well as those with various chronic health issues.
